Is There Something Wrong With The Paint On My vRS

Featured Replies

I thought I would give my new vRS a good clean-polish-wax etc.

When I looked at the pillar between the windscreen and the front doors ( see pic below)

it seemed to be just plain black paint ( as was the one on the other side). It had no

metallic flecks like the rest of the car.

Are all the black metallics like this or have they wrongly painted mine ?

I hope I am not going crazy.

Its pearl black but yes, it should have flicks of silver stuff in the paint. Look closer under a different light.

Unless the pillars are gloss black as some are...

Just checked, all front pillars are gloss black :D

It is because it is Black and not metallic. Door pillars are the same. See this pic on a non black car:

Thanks for the quick replies.

Yep they are gloss black .

Why did they not make them metallic like the rest of the car ??

I can only presume (without actually seeing one) that they are covers the same as the door pillars... so aren't going to colour code a black pillar met black as they are black on all cars..!

You'll need a closer photo then, preferably in macro mode on your camera. But if it's the same Black Magic (9910 paint code) that's used on other Skoda models, then there should be gold flecks visible.

By way of example, this is the front wing of my previous Fabia....

Yep , just checked it is plastic - tap the roof and then tap the front pillar - completely different sounds.

At least it polished up nicely :D

John

A pillar is black perspecs and the B pillar is sprayed with black magic pearl, this the way with all metallics flat or common paint the A&B pillars are black Plastic A and vinyl cover on B
