DOUBLE DIN SATNAV/HEAD UNIT

Featured Replies

Okay so now my birthdays around the corner and the missus has offered to get me a new double din sat nav/head unit. Basically i'm after something with:

* CD playback

* MP3,WMA and audio CD Playback

* Integrated Satelite Navigation (With maps)

* Ideally touch screen but minus one of those little stylus's for me to lose.

* Iphone/Ipod ready

* SD card reader

* Dualzone or any other software so i can use sat nav and listen to music at the same time.

DVD reader would be a bonus but not essential as would a detachable screen for theft protection but these are not essential. I have had a little look around and cant really find anything brand new for less than £500 so a used unit does not bother me at all my limit is £350.

Oh the car is a MK1 Skoda Fabia VRS

Please help :'(

Sounds as if the Pioneer AVIC-F310BT or the later F320BT fit the bill perfectly. I think they have every feature you ask for, minus the SD card slot. That is no biggy as you can get a £20 iPod lead and hook one of them up via that. Has inbuilt TeleAtlas maps, works with iPhone no problem, has Parrot Bluetooth built in for telephone calls, has a detachable screen, has CD playback. I have the F310BT in my Octavia and it is fantastic, have had it 2 years now and never had a problem with it. Budget £100 for fitting items, e.g. fascia adaptor, aerial adaptor and can-bus adaptor. Can-bus is not critical, but it does make the install childs-play. Used units crop up on eBay from around the £250 mark.

Completely true the v1.0 software was awful - reaaly slow and unresponsive. v2.0 software fixed all of that and it works brilliantly. I genuinely think you will be impressed by these Pioneer units - why not stop by your local car audio shop and have a fiddle.

any more suggestions guys still on the lookout for one :thumbup:

Been looking at these, what navsoftware do you use? & do you need a facia for octy 2 FL?

Using Igo8, looks very very smart! Maps are 18months old but with a bit of googling it is very easy to find the Q1 2011 maps, i just havnt got round to it.

I do need a facia for the oct 2 (mine is pre-FL) and should have picked one up last week but was very busy. Apparently it does need trimming down by 1-2mm all the way round to make it fit but I cant see that being too difficult with a bit of patience! I am still absolutely loving it and cant recommend it highly enough, the guy I bought it off on ebay has been fantastic as well, cracking support with it (all UK based).

Everything you could want to know about it:
