HAve the car now 4 years and mine and the missus's key always worked fine from the day we bought the car.

Last day I decided I would make a tiny adjustment to my driving position and rooted out the manual. Seems no matter what I try the keys will not update to my new seat position when I open the car. I know that the new position has got stored correctly cause when I open the door ( I discovered this by accident ) you can select your seating position while the door open just be hitting the desired button while the door is open. 3 is my number. However no matter how many times I try and get the bong with the ignition on, the key does not store the new position.

Any ideas what else I could try?

UPDATE: Now the key IS storing my new position( No idea what I did ) but for the hell of it I want to set a new position but can't get it working. I also noticed in the docs that along with the reversing mirror position, you can also store forward mirror positions but I don't remember this ever working. I wonder is this something that has to be switched on via the console?

can't actually help with your query - other than to say normal mirror positioning should be saved at the same time as the seats - but FWIW, although I have never had a problem setting or retrieving different seating and mirror positions with all three memory buttons, I have never been able to save any settings to the key remote... :wonder:

There is another switch on the side of the seat and this switches the memory on and off. I would try this in both positions sorry I can't remember exactly how it works as my mk1 is now sold.
