Hi All,

My names Howard and im possibly looking at buying a Fabia VRS later in the year. I Currently drive a stage 1 mapped & modded Vauxhall Signum 2.8T V6 pushing out over 280 bhp. I am an active member of the Vec-C/Signum owners club and love attending meets and modding my Siggy. Due to the increase in fuel costs (£1.43 ltr SUL), only getting 24mpg and the silly tax bracket of £425 a year my beloved Siggy may have to go. I have been looking around for ages for a replacement and these little motors strike me as a pretty cool little car. Plus the benefits of getting 50+ mpg is a real bonus. I will be scouring the classifieds to see what comes up. If I do buy one I will have about £5000 to spend initially and will be looking for something standard with reasonable miles and will be looking to mod from there. A couple of questions I have are:

Is a £5000 budget enough to secure a half decent car?

What sort of mileage can you get out of the DMF & clutch?

What mileage should the cam belt and water pump be replaced?

Are there any particular problems with these cars I should look out for when viewing?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to through my way.

Howard

Hi there cambelt and waterpump should be changed every 4 years or 60,000 miles

Rear console bushes are prone to wear out quickly causing a knocking noise, rear door carriers leak (quick fix with some roof and gutter sealant)

Have a search mate, will answer every question you could wish to ask before you've brought one. £5000 is enough to secure a good one
