Any way to reset the ecu

Featured Replies

is there any way to reset the ecu so it starts to learn things like fuel consumption again from scratch and other such things ?

I would guess to disconnect the battery for a bit. That has worked on my previous cars.

Pretty sure Ross said this was an "urban myth" in one of his previous posts, at least for Skodas - i know you could reset the ECU on the Scooby by disconnecting the battery..... :)

Chris

Are you talking about the trip computer?

If so you just hold down the button on the under side of the wiper stalk....the one that changes between current trip and all trips values.

no no it doesnt lol

lol if you fill tank up with fuel it gives you your miles left using your old economy figures it doesnt reset them to 0 infact it doesnt do anything with it for about 50 miles from what it said in the manual iirc

 ...must be different in the Furby then....I can "0" the values in the trip computer in my Octy.

Battery off for 20 minutes then. You'll have to reset your leccy windows and clock. ;)

Are you holding the "reset" button on the stalk down for long enough?

yes lol i can reset the trips fine lol

its not the trips im on about tho

lik ein my old 172 there was a sequence of throttle blips and key movements that told the ecu to start learning again things like driving style fuel use etc etc

In dirty Citroen Saxo VT's, this could be done by disconnect batt for an hour or so - long enough for the internal capicitors to discharge. This would reset fault codes etc as well.

That's what my dad did when my mum traded her knackered VTS!!!

Confirmed - By disconnecting the battery it wipes the stored data w.r.t fuel consumption and range of the car.

Did it to mine a few weeks ago.
