Got the 'new' alternator and fitted it last night. What a job! I spent 3 1/2 hrs on it, trying to figure out how to get it back on. The tensioner is the cause of all the aggrevation, but with help from the missus, it got done.

Car fired up first time, took it to work today and no battery light came on.

Here's the really odd thing. With the old alternator the battery light mostly came on at just before 3000rpm and out at 3250rpm.

This alternator has an audible whine which gets suddenly louder at exactly the same point in the rpm range. :wonder:
