Has anyone attempted to repair the controller that slots onto the motor.

This is the usual one which corrodes the pins inside the box where it slots onto the multiplug.

As I would suspect that no-one has managed a good repair has anyone got one for sale, the part number on the motor is: 1u6959802d

as a sideline question, would a matched pair with different part numbers work?

Assuming the drivers door control unit, I've repaired one in the past, by cutting a hole in the plastic, removing the yellow foam around the pins and finding something suitable to solder onto the board to replace the damaged pins.

You need to replace like for like on the part number as there may be software differences between part numbers. What do you mean by a matched pair?, you'll need to do the rears as well and possibly the convenience control unit (all matched) if not keeping tp the original part numbers

The control box attached to the motor isn't available as a separate part - it's part of the window motor.

Try and find a unit has failed for reasons other than pin corrosion and transfer the pins over.
