Monte Carlo delivery date.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I wanted your opinion on something if possible. I ordered up a new Monte Carlo on the 28th April and agreed a trade in price based on a 6 month delivery timescale. I was told the car would be ready in September/October time as there was a long wait for the 1.6CR 105 engine. I spoke to the dealer yesterday to add some options as they said I would be able to for a while as the car wouldn't be built for a few months. The salesman called back shortly afterwards and said that the build week had been bought forward and they were expecting delivery for around July.

We agreed a price trade in for our Megane of £1700 based on the fact it wouldn't be traded in till September. My questions are do you think I should haggle for more money for the trade in as it's a couple of months early? Secondly, I'm in no rush for the car as my company car lease was mucked up and the company car doesn't go for another year so the later the better delivery as far as I'm concerned. Do I have the right to say I don't want the car till the September registration so it's a new car on the books?

What would you do??

Cheers,

Matt

Ps, I went for Candy White, 1.6CR with full electric windows, cruise control, rear parking sensors, spare wheel and fully fitted mats. Hope you all approve :)

Oooo a white monte :p very swishy!

When I spoke to my dealer they gave me a price based on 16 week delivery to be safe.. but said if its any sooner they will look to give me more and if its any later they will take the hit on the loss of value on my car so yes I would defo speak to them as your car wouldnt of depreciated as much!

My deal was sorted so that I was given a price for my car and the dealer would honour that price whenever the car was delivered. As it is I have probably lost a little as my delivery date was August/September and hopefully it will be next month. But to be honest my car is worth so little it its not worth the bother for £50 or 75.

See if you can get a full tank of fuel, mats or a few mini accessories.

Am I within my rights to ask for it to be a 61 plate? Would prefer it in September as would like to own a car from new the day the new reg comes out.

Not really, the car is delivered when the car is delivered. Delivery dates are estimates and can be brought forward or pushed back depending on many things. I feel the same, by the time I get my 11 plate in a few months 61 plates will be out which sucks but meh!

Someone in another tread said that in the Vat free deal small print it required all cars to be registered within 10 days of arriving at the dealers.

To be honest do you really want to leave the car at the dealers for 2/3 months with a risk of damage. At most dealer’s space is at a premium and cars are constantly being moved around the garage and workshops.

Your getting it much earlier, which a lot of people would like to be in that position.

Maybe ask for a free first service.

Pictures please when you get it.

I am thinking the same as you guys really. I would like it to be as new as possible but in the long run I don't really fancy taking it when it's been kicking around for a while. It was really that my friends said "wait till the new reg comes out!". I recon if I held my ground it would be used to show people what the options are like when fitted, I don't like the thought of people looking all over it.

If the TT that we lease through work had gone back already then I would be really excited to get it asap. Unfortunately as it stands it means we will have three vehicles until the TT goes back next May. Can't complain really though, I haven't seen one Monte Carlo around Weymouth or anywhere to think of it, as most seem to be going out in red it'll really stand out.

Wil put up photo's asap when it arrives. I recon my first post after they are put up will be titled "Help, my misses has curbed the black alloys, does anyone know a good divorce solicitor!".

I wouldn't ask them to knock the build week back any. If you do you may end up with a 81 plate not a 61 judging by some of the delays people are having to put up with.

Ok. Spoke to the dealer and asked if there's any way it can be dropped back a bit. They said as part of the 20% Vat free deal they do state collection within 10 days of delivery to the dealer and you have to take it when it's ready. They were really good though and I've asked them to review the trade in as it will be in a few months early. I said if they didn't want to increase the price of the trade in then they could give me some options for free. Fingers crossed!
