Hi everyone.

I've just sold my motorcycle to fund the purchase of a modestly priced 'Dad's Taxi' for the school run. Well, that was the bad news, but I'm hoping the fact that I have subsequently acquired an 02 Fabia sdi estate will be good news.

Having only owned French cars for the last 20 years, I can see that I am probably at the beginning of a large learning curve, as after reading the owner's guide, I'm already stumped when it comes to choosing engine oil for the service that is due :wall: . I have yet to traul through previous threads, but am hopefull that I'll learn a lot on here. In the meantime,If anyone could please tell me whether I need a 'High Lubricity Multigrade', or just a 'Multigrade' (both are quoted for the sdi in the owner's maniual), that would be a great start. I have looked on the Halfords website, and even searched by reg number, for products only suitable for my car, but found no clarity.

I must admit that my choice of car was dictated purely though economy, and after driving her back some 230 miles from the previous owner's home (averaging 61mpg according to the on-board computer), I am confident that I have made the right choice. Being of extremely limited budget, my new Fabia is not the best cosmetically and has a few niggly issues that will need attention, but from what I have seen from the engine so far, I am confident that it was regularly serviced, despite a big gap in the documented history.

Oh well, that's probably enough for now. Next trip will be to Halfords for a Haynes manual.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome to Briskoda.

Make sure to check out the North West region of Briskoda.

Welcome to the site 'Tin-Tin' and ask away any problems you may have in the future.

Most service parts can be bought cheaper from E-Bay with a few exceptions, and most jobs well within a competent DIY person.
