Bloomin Stereo!!!

Featured Replies

Harrow all,

Had mo Octi VRS 3 weeks now, and the stereo seems to reset itself everytime i turn the ignition off.

Now i know you will all say no permernant live but, the radio stations stay tuned to the settings etc, but i set up the bass treble and all that, even if i'm listening to a cd, turn off the ignition and back on again, Bob's ya ferret its back on to station preset 1 bass 00 treble 00 fade 00. Why will not stay as i set it and keep the flipping CD where i finished it!:finger: :thumbdwn:

Please Jim can you fix this for me and i'll promise to drive it carefully and not to speed! :D

Come on is it just mine that does this or does everyone elses do it, is it a cheap Skoda thing?

You've all got one or had one i persume!!

Being pragmatic:

If it's under warranty, get the dealer to check it.

If it's not, pluck it from the dash, discard it in the nearest bin and buy a decent HU... :)

Rob.

you dont have a std h/u do you?

swap red and yellow wires and all will be fine.

If i go get another head unit from say Halfords can i keep the multi changer thats in the boot.

But then all head units today come with CD's in the face dont they?

Keith.

do you have a std skoda h/u or not?

i do

Yes, but unfortunately it will just be dead weight taking up boot space, and won't be compatible with any aftermarket head unit...

Actually...did you buy your Skoda from a Skoda dealer? Seem to recall there's some warranty on used cars (a year or something) under the Skoda Used Vehicles scheme or something...failing that, if it's not right, you could quibble "fit for purpose" and get it looked at...

Rob.

then it should not lose settings... return to dealer for new one under warranty.

Yeah its an 03 so still has original warranty remaining, well i was told when i brought it!

I shall ring them suckers now!

Cheers.

Keith

I have only had my Octy a month (bought new) and I have had no problems with the standard headunit.

not even the "sounds really crap" problem? all of them suffer from that?

Yeah, it's not great but to be honest it's not that bad either. I have got a very expensive Pioneer h/u sat in the loft at the moment (organic displays etc) that I took out of the last car. But, tbh, I am enjoying the fact that I don't have to carry the faceplate everywhere and the fact that the vRS does not have an alarm puts me off putting a decent h/u in.

I will be looking to upgrade the speakers soon though..

Yeah that worked, took it back and they had fitted it wrong, yellow and red wires crossed!

Cheeers Paul.

Keith.

Took it back to my local skoda garage to check it under warranty, they did, told me the wires were crossed then bloody charged me
