EPC light/Engine light on

Featured Replies

Last week the engine light came on in my Superb but there was nothing noticeable in the way it performed. When I turn on the ignition part way both the EPC and Engine Management lights come on but once the engine was running the engine management light stayed on.

I used VAGCOM to clear the fault and the engine management light is no longer on while driving (have done 100 miles since then) but the EPC light/Engine light stay on when you first turn on the ignition so obviously the fault is still there. VAGCOM says this:

Address 01: Engine

Controller: 4B0 906 018 DC

Component: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0001

Coding: 11001

Shop #: WSC 00028

TMBCL23U729007508 SKZ7Z0A1168119

1 Fault Found:

16795 - Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect Flow Detected

P0411 - 35-00 - -

Readiness: 0000 0000

I've read up on this fault and the possible problems with the secondary air pump but more concerning is that in VAGCOM when I run the readiness checks engine it says that the Secondary air pump, O2 sensor and catalytic converter cannot be found. This would presumably explain the EPC light being on but what is the root cause likely to be?

Could be the M.A.F sensor?

Could be the M.A.F sensor?

Rob

Wouldn't that cause poor running/performance though? (I have no idea)

Seems to have fixed itself.

I cleared all the faults and then drove another 100 miles today, no faults have reappeared. All the systems seem to be working fine after going through them in detail with VAGCOM.

I have also discovered that my brake vacuum switch is slightly out of adjustment, which would explain why the cruise control hasn't been working.
