Columbus V7.1 East Map Problem

Featured Replies

I tried to install V7.1 East Map on my unit which has 2764 firmware. I waited nearly 1,5 hours but it did not install the map, bar progressed but started again and again, "navigation data is being downloaded" wrote on the screen..

I thought that maybe V7.1 map can not be installed with 2764 fw, is it true?

If it is true, which fw is the latest and stable fw for my unit(3T0 035 680-As far as i know it is "A" revision)

The problem is probably the Map disc.

I know of people that had problems with V7.1 West maps and had to use a different disc to install. If you can try someone else's disc and see if that works.

I might be totally wrong here but I'm sure I read somewhere that v7.1 maps were only for use with the later 3800 firmware and it's v7.0 for others, it might have been somewhere on vwnavi.com. Also the same thread said that the 3800 was only for the newest version of the RNS510 though and could cause problems on older ones.

Saying that some of the Columbus for sale on ebay state 7.1 maps so I could be talking rubbish.

If this is true trying to install V7.1 is worthless... But from your post i also understand that 3... firmware is problematic with my unit. With these two, it seems that i cannot install V7.1???

I'm not 100% sure, there will be people on here who will know a lot better then me, maybe they'll confirm or say it's wrong. I'll see if I can find the topics where it was mentioned.

I can't find the exact post I was looking for now but others are suggesting that having 7.1 on earlier firmware doesn't give any big advantage as it is only the 3800 firmware that can fully use 7.1's points of interest. From that it sounds like 7.1 should go on yours but that it might not gain you anything over 7.0 possibly.

V7.1 maps will work on any firmware from 2680 up.

If you use 3800 or higher firmware then any user POI's you put in will not work at this present moment in time. The mapping will still work fine though

Thank you for replies. If i am not misunderstood; i can install 3810 firmware into my unit(3T0 035 680) without any problem and with V7.1 map user POIs will work.
