1.9 TDI PD oil usage

Featured Replies

Hi,

My car GreenLine 1.9 TDI PD (DPF)

Just wondering how much oil we are fill up to 1.9 TDI PD

My story is that in 32000 Milles I did not needed to fill up any oil at all.

I checked the stick maybe 100 Times and all time the same up to the top “Maybe after 10 000 miles it is show little usage I mean 2-3 millimetres have gone from the max line from the stick

First service was at 19 000 Milles new oil new filter etc …..

I spoke with my friend (He have fabia 1.9 TDI none turbo) and he saying that he as well do not fill up any oil as not needed and the mileage 90 000 Milles

After discussion with my friend why someone fill up regularly the oil - he saying that some maybe drive little more harder that’s why they need to fill up ?

Whats your story about this ??? Is it oil usage depends on revs or the roads or etc..

Question is it 1.9 TDI PD Use the oil ???

Regards

Inco

I have a 1.9PD TDI (105ps) Golf Bluemotion a company car & I have never had to add a drop of oil.

I don't check very often now every 6 to 8 weeks.

Tha car is just about 2.5 years old & has now done about 65,000 miles.

I think I probably drive it quite hard (3-4000 rpm) 15% of the time normally 60% (2-3000 rpm) and economically 25% (1500-2250 rpm) of the the time.

re. Oil, I understand your thought abut oil consumption but I would expect the oil not to be consumed by higher rpm as iteh oil is heat resistant & is there to do its job at all the normal operating temperatures, even if it means 4500rpm.

If the heat generated is too high, then there is another problem in my opinion (I'm no mechanic though).

If you loose oil I understand that this is often through seals that are not functioning fully effectively but I think there is little you can do about that - I would say then you have a "dodgy motor".

Hope that my views help or are somehow also fact.

Regards

Stef

My first 1.9Tdi was a Octavia II which consumed about 1 litre of oil evry 10,000 miles. By contrast, my 83,000 mile old Superb II has consumed 1 litre every 20,000 miles or so. Most of my miles are on the motorway at between 60-70 mph.

For some reason, the main dealer always overfills the engine, depsite the warning sticker stating not to do so. This additional oil eventually burns off.

I check my oil level every week in order to monitor any adverse consumption.
