Wiper problem on Fab VRS

Featured Replies

I have a problem with the front wipers on my car. Driving back from the lakes this morning they would not work at all (a good job it was fine for the journey). The rear wiper will wipe, but there is no water jet! It was cold last night but there was no frost this morning!

I have checked the fuse for the wipers and that is OK. I have also read several posts regarding the bonnet catch and it not being shut properly, causing the wipers to stop on intermitent setting. Have tried this and still not working!

I am now thinking the either the linkages or motor have seized. Has anyone experienced similar? Looks like its a trip to the dealer tomorrow (weather permitting) to see if they can fix it, the car is a year old so might be calling on the warranty for the first time?

You've blown a fuse, but it's not the obvious one. Mine did it and it took the dealer seconds to locate and fix. Sorry I can't tell you what the fuse number is :(

Annoying as I can't remember which one it is either, other than it's the fuse for the washer jet pump... too cold and dark to venture out I'm afraid. The fuse has gone because the pump is seized up with ice & takes too much current if activated.

You may also find the pipes to the screen wash resevoir may fall off. Put lots of screen wash with an antifreeze additive in to stop this.

Thanks guys. For info its was fuse 15 that had blown.

Mods - This thread ideal for a Fabia Winter FAQ....

My front wipers and no water jet won't work hard to drive in the drizzling rain, took to the dealer, said was probably fuse and showed location of fuse box(driver door dash board side not easy to locate till door opened) but cannot tell which fuse it is. Could anyone help.

From the post above, have you checked fuse 15? :D There should be a diagram of the fuse layout in the handbook so you can find it in the fuse box..... :)
