Air con help

Featured Replies

Hello there to everybody. Got the air con re gassed a few weeks back ready for the nice weather lol, didnt find it that cold when it was done. Now the hot weather is here its time for the air con to be used, but to be honest its not that cold, is there anything else I may need to change or am I looking at a big bill due to a leak? The pump is working fine and there is defo gas in the system, as it goes cold ish within a min or so

Sounds like you have lost some gas or they haven't done it properly. My fiancee's Civic was the same after a regas - took it back and got them to redo it with dye and they found a pinprick leak in a pipe. I'd take it back if I was you. Paid £60 with a dye check and leak was sealed with some sort of resin.

Mines the same. :dull: Just had it regassed, and they pulled 350ish g of gas from it, and put the full 750 back in, complete with UV dye + PAG oil, but it still doesn't go that cold, even though the compressor runs aswell as the fans.

Compared to the other vRS (admittedly newer, but never regassed) I used to have, and my toledo, it only goes cool, and I don't get any condensation underneath the car. Perhaps the compressor is dying internally.

Got the guy to come back 2 weeks later, and we found no leaks, and no gas had been lost.

Anyone else had this? I have noticed the compressor says VARIABLE DISPLACEMENT on it. There isn't an electrical connector on it to control the 'variableness' is there? Maybe it isn't running at full power. ??

Mine had a leak at one of the O rings on the condenser - re-gassing only lasted a couple of weeks.

Only cost me the equivalent of about 60 quid to fix at an aircon specialist.

Take it to an aircon specialist. Fast fit places usually won't diagnose faults and could do more harm than good if they get it wrong.
