FAULT LIGHTS PROBLEM

Featured Replies

Octavia VRS diesel 2008.......

I keep getting a yellow warning light on the dash, this seems to be the exhaust management light fault code. It has been into the garage 3 times so far & they can`t find anything much wrong, when they put it on the diognostic machine it comes up with an error code under the drivers seat.. in addition to this the glow plug light keeps coming on & the power dies, you end up having to stop & turn the engine off, this then clears this specific issue, occasionaly the power also dies for a couple of seconds. As you know this would be unusual due to the way the engine is set up.........

Anyone got any deas ?

Cheers

Garry

Is it a Skoda dealer your going to? If the EWL is coming on then there WILL be a code logged against it. Are you taking it to the supplying dealer or did you buyit used? Maybe you can find someone local with VCDS who can do a scan for you.

I bought it used from a Honda dealership, but the service manager said he spoke to someone at Skoda & nothing came to mind. I told them that if the light comes on again, then I want it out into a skoda dealership & they can pay for it... I assume the skoda delaership would have the scan equipment that you mention ? I think they are trying to get out of replacing whatever it is that is causing the issue

Anyone in the Paisley / Glasgow area got access to VCDS equipmnet? Would like to check the fault codes before going back to the garage...

Is it still under 3 year warranty?

No, warranty ran out in March.......... got 1 years warranty from Pheonix in Paisley though, light went out today typically enough, got it booked into skoda in Galsgow on Friday, not sure whether or not to still put it in to see if any fault codes will still be in the memory, what do you think ?

Check the DPF exhaust sensor, mine went last week and same thing happened

I take it its not just the car running a DPF regen? My Scout puts a light on the dash when it does this, although its only done it once in 18 months.

If the light comes on then the fault that caused it will be logged in the memory along with the time and engine speed etc when the problem occured. That will stay in the memory until the car is plugged into the diagnostic tool and the memory is cleared.
