Aloha Briskoda,

Long time, no post.....mainly because the car's been going well and i've had no problems.

That all came to an end last week, when it developed a serious problem on a round trip to chorley. Combined with the existing issues it has, the fact that i need a reliable daily drive (i do 1000+ miles a month) and the fact that in a month or few i will need a vehicle with isofix points, the time has come for me & the felly to part ways.

As such, i'm soon going to have to make a decision on whether to drag it off to the scrappy's, flog it to "we buy any car", stick it on ebay, or stick it here in the classifieds. Unfortunately, i work away much of the time and don't have storage space for a dead car. So i need to get shut of it sharpish.

And that is where you guys come in. Listed below are the faults it has; what i would like is for you to vote on how you think i should dispose of/sell it. Whilst i'm not intending to part it out, as i don't have the time, if you would like to buy parts off it then vote for the "classifieds" option. That way you can buy it and strip it for parts yourself, assuming that the "classifieds" option wins.

So get voting people - you have only until monday to influence me one way or the other!

Vehicle: V-Reg (99) Skoda Felicia estate 1.6GLXi

Faults:

LHS E/L Window not working (Switch is dead and window jammed.)

Sunroof Silicon'd shut, but still leaks.

Steering wheel vibrates at speeds over 65mph - wheel alignment suspect.

Leak & wind noise from drivers door, due to buckled door top.

Paintwork poor (no rust though)

Skoda tool kit (Inc jack & towing eye) missing

Currently having trouble starting engine.

Engine lacks power (could just need a service, but....)

Blew out oil cap (again) on trip to chorley - oil breather is NOT blocked. Possible piston ring failure?

Previous owner clipped gatepost with it - despite replacing the left wing, bumper & bumper bar, i haven't attempted to repair the (minor) damage to the bonnet or the inner wing.

Temp sender/temp gauge does not work.

Does not lock from drivers door.

Faint scraping sound from engine bay when engine is hot and moving at slow speed (sub 20mph - disspears again at 25mph and above).

Good Points:

New G/Box fitted last october.

4 new tyres fitted last november

Please note, this is not an ad - and i'm not that interested in how much i can get for it. It's already paid for it's self. I'm just wanting to know which is the best way of freeing up my drive.

Additionally, if anyone is wondering on what i'm planning to do with the dealer manuals i have for the felly, they will be availible for free to the first person who asks for them. Unless it's a Mod/Admin - then they are still availible for free, but with the added bonus of some form of funny task to perform for the amusement of the forum denziens(un-ban all of this years trolls/spammers for 24hrs, post photo's of them kissing a walrus, etc, etc).

Cheers,

Dan.

Just for a laugh (i was very, very bored) i filled in the on-line form for 'we buy any car.com.

96 felly (N) reasonable body condition, 54,000 genuine miles, 1.3 glxi, 12 months M.O.T. original stereo, no mods what-so-ever.

£50.00p

£50 bleeding quid.

cheeky bar-stewards.

I'd deffo let someone on here buy it for bits.

Was that before of after the £50 'admin' fee? ;)

i would be after a long list of items.

Not eneough storage space at my house (currently occupied by Skoda, fiat cinquecento & large box trailer, hence need to free up space for new vehicle).

Also no time to break it (too much time away from home working, and trying to finish renovating house before baby arrives).

However, if you want to buy it & break yourself......

or convince some other member(s) with the necessary space, to club together to break it....

.....Then feel free to vote "classifieds"/"ebay" :)

In the (highly) unlikely event that anyone decides that they really really must have my poor old shed felly right this second, then they are free to bombard my PM box with spam offers, however as this isn't a classifed ad (yet), I reserve the right to ignore 'em

does it still drive?

Yes, although due to the noted issues, i can't recomend taking it above 60mph.

And yes, it is taxed & tested - til august & september respectively.

No way will they give you £50 for it, every little ding and dent will knock a tenner off; so from your description , you will end up paying them about £5k!!!

I'd be tempted, but I dont have the time to do anything; I'm off to China for 4 months in 2 1/2 weeks time, although if no one buys it, or asks for the manuals, I would like them; I will be looking for a Felly for the new missus when we return to the UK.

ring 07786 288 109

i will buy it from you as i want it for breaking for parts for my felicia

rainbowfore, no. that was what they offered me. £50.00p

skoda-1.jpg

I managed to get some genuine skoda wheel cenre caps for a quid (for the set of 4) on ebay.

I'm used to the colour now, and no longer refer to the car as my 'little green snot machine' :giggle:

Best £250 i've spent in many years of driving cheap run-a-rounds....

Well, the results of the vote are in: a tie between selling to a scrappy, and putting up a classified on here.

What does this mean?

Well, since i'm not a freedom member that makes things a little awkward as regards placing a classified Ad. I've already had a couple of offers to buy, despite saying that this wasn't a classified thread. It strikes me as being most unfair on everyone else, should i suddenly decide to accept one of these offers, especiaaly after what i said at the start of this thread.

Given this, I have a proposal; i'm going to be off to glasgow in the morning - i return on friday. Thus, whosoever, between now and saturday morning, makes the best offer for the car (by PM, not on this thread!) gets it, so long as the below conditions are met.

However, if either:

I get no offer greater/equal to the notional fifty quid that the webuyanycar cowboys will pay for a felly,

or

the mods decide that this is totally against the rules and lock/delete this thread.

then the vehicle goes to the breakers (Skoparts being the most likely candidate).

Methinks this is as fair as i can make it.

Hopefully i won't get bashed by the mods too much......(especially when i reveal that the felly's replacement is a Fiat Doblo!)

On another note, the dealer manual is no longer available, and will be on it's way to djaychella once i get 'round to pricing up how much it will cost to post it. The Haynes manual is still availible (for £0.00 +p&p) should anyone want it. If'n you do, PM me.

Aloha!

Well, since I've returned from glasgow to no replies & no PM's following the last post I'm assuming no-one is interested in buying the old girl...

...looks like i'll be giving skoparts a call in the morning then.

Dan.

sad to here it mate... maybe god intended it to be that way.

Amen

RIP '99 Felicia Estate (1.6 GLXi)
