CV Joint

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd update you all on my split CV boot drama. The weekend before last I discovered the off side CV boot split and the grease thrown out. I had no choice but to drive it for work that weekend and hope for the best. It was clicking slightly, but not knocking. Big difference. All reports on this forum said the joint was a gonner, and I thought so myself. All I could do that weekend was spray WD 40 into the split boot before I drove it and take it handy. I had to drive just over 700 miles (mostly motorway/little steering angle=least stress on joint). I got a boot put on after all that, and well packed it with grease. Since then, 1,200 miles later (yes I do big miles), all seems to be well, touch wood.

That's it really, boring but pleasantly surprised,

Rob
