ESP worth it or not?

Featured Replies

I'm picking up my 4 month old silver Fabia VRS in 6 days time. It has ESP on it! Can any one tell me if it actually improves the ride aournd bends etc, or is it a waist of time?

It wont improve ride around bends unless you loose traction, then it may save you going ditchwards.

Save your self money and a long wait... imo

Heres an explanation of what esp is :-

I had it included as an optional extra on my vRS, and in my opinion it's worth the additional financial outlay. It keeps the car straight and controllable if you happen to encounter a slippery surface. Just this morning, on a very icy and quiet country road, I played with having the ESP on, and off. With it on, it's far more stable and steerable, with it off, you can have more fun, but just imagine if you were doing a far higher speed and the unexpected happened (aquaplaning immediately comes to mind, as does a high speed tyre blowout, diesel spillages on the road, etc, etc, etc.)?

i have a 4x4 so esp wasn't an option but i'm very glad to have it, well worth the money. i too have played with finding out what it does. i have found that in wet conditions with it on i can go round a corner and floor it, the car accelerates to the maximum speed with the given traction and stays at the speed until you are round the corner and then it lets you continue to accelerate. have also played in the snow and ice and found it great personally, in my car its not that when it goes sideways it brings you back, you just don't go sideways.

I got it as a safety system, not coz I'm gonna use it to trash around harder. The Furby drives fine without it. It will probably increase your delivery times though, so that one's up to you ;)

Excellent :) As far as I can see, ESP can only improve the safety of your vehicle.
