Aircon fault

Featured Replies

I have as 57-plate Octavia VRS Diesel estate and the Climatronic aircon has stopped working. On (or about) the first day I noticed it wasnt working, I noticed that the two fans behind the radiator were on all the time. They dont start when the engine is started, but do seem to come on soon after. I work for a Ford main dealer and they tell me there are no leaks in the system, the gas is ok...but they can do no more. I decided I would remove the fuse in the fan system, but cant find one. Today after a 5 mile drive I left the engine (and fans) running while i looked at the fuses again. Whilst fiddling about I removed fuse 4 and put it back, and within a few secs both fans stopped. This may be coincidence, Ive never left the engine running long enough before to see if they stop on their own after a while anyway. Ive read of compressor failures, but this seems to affect earlier cars. Im hoping that there is a connection between the aircon failure and the fans running and that it is just an electrical fault. The engine water temp never changes, always on 90 whatever the weather. Any thoughts would be gratefully received. Id just like a bit of background knowledge before going to a VAG specialist. Thank you, MarK, East Yorkshire

Needs a scan with VCDS as a starter.

I have the same problem - which has been diagnosed as a faulty high pressure switch / sensor / valve. It is being fitted tomorrow.

Have you managed to sort your problem?
