Leaky windscreen

Featured Replies

I've got water leaking into the front passenger foot-well - UK car so RHD. I took it in today and the dealer reckons its the windscreen leaking and that there is a technical bulletin about it. The car is a MY11 estate with a heated windscreen. I know water leaks are quite common but anybody heard of this one?

To fix it they say they have to remove the windscreen and re-seal it somewhere. Only problem is that their glass person won't remove it because there is a chip right on the top edge. He is saying it will break when they remove it! The chip doesn't affect anything else as it is literally on he edge and in the black bit!

Luckily it's a lease car so I don't have to worry about who finally pays but it could be an interesting one if it was my insurance or Skoda's warranty!

If it leaks & need replacing then Skoda pay, thay are just trying to "worm" out of it.

I think you will find that even without the chip there is a 70% chance that it will break on removal. As above if the screen leaks they pay. Do you have a sunroof? If yes get them to check drain channel as this can sometimes get"crimped" at the factory which would give similar problem water in footwell

So it's not the chip causing the leak then? Or is it the dreaded water ingress? Have you checked the plenum chamber and bungs?

Fingers crossed

Does your car have a Sun / Moon Roof? If it does, could it be the drain hose that is choked?
