Hi to all, just got myslf a skoda Octavia diesel estate, its got a OFR stuck brake caliper ( handbrake) so checked the net and found this place,

I hope if I need it I can get some good advice from you guys,

As I know next to nothing about this make of car I'm afraid my input to this forum may be minimal.

Hello and welcome. Is it a Mk2 Octavia you have. My Dad has recently 'rejected' his with a rear brake issue, mainly it overheating badly, on journeys as short as 3 miles where he only only had to use the brakes twice, and slow from slow speed too.

Dont Know, its a 54 plate, how do I tell the difference between a mk1 and a mk 2 ?

The MKII is slightly longer, with more boot space and rear legroom. The front grills are different in appearance. Without providing a photo, the best way to tell is to look at bonnet shapes. The MKI is more or less rectangular whereas the MKII is trapezoidal, narrowing from windscreen width to the width between the headlights. If you look on Wikipedia you'll see one of each. Can't tell from your year as both marks were availabe on a 54 plate.

Many Thanks, its a Mk1, as you say the central bit of the bonnet is more rectangular, So at least I know which camp to follow.
