Tracker GPS

Featured Replies

Thinking of putting a Tracker on my pride and joy, but not sure of the best or most cost effective system.

Anyone got experience with these?

Would like to know initial outlay, subscription costs, any additional features, and any insurance savings.

My advice is to go for a proper "Tracker" unit.

The cheaper alternatives are GPS and GSM only, so more easily defeated.

Had one on my Range Rover but never needed to use it. Gave peace of mind though at £400 for 3 years.

I can't see the point in caring enough to fit one, but then going for a cheapo.

Unless it's just to keep an insurance company happy and you don't really want it.

Deffo want one that actually works. Reduction of insurance premiums is a bonus.

Just wondered if there was an alternative that offered same level of protection but cheaper.

Out of interest did it lower your premium by much?

I never asked as it was on a fleet policy with work. Any car is the same price. My Fabia Greenline is the same as my Rangie was.

I did it because it was a flipping expensive car, so if it went missing I wanted it back.

You won't get the same level of protection (if you go cheaper) as Tracker use GSM, GPS and VHF. It has three ways to be found. All other systems use one or two. GPS, GSM or both. Tracker is the only service to use VHF, which to me make it more reliable.

If I didn't want to pay out for Tracker I'd probably use these people: http://skytag-gps.co.uk/

It's a pretty good service. Just the device is easier to block.
