Afternoon all. Looking for a change of car, indeed manufacturer! After 10 Alfa's I'm a bit bored with fitting top wishbones and the only thing on my radar with the same subtle style is an Octy vRS. Just driven one and came away generally impressed, but with 2 questions - What causes an intermittent misfire on warm up/fast tickover that disappeared once it dropped on to normal tickover? and is the 2 small braces behind the back seat betwen the floor and the turrets a vRS thing?

What should i be aware of when looking - at my 2k budget they all seem to have done at least 90k miles, do they take miles well as long as the service history is complete?

So hello again and nice to meet you all, any answers would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome, have a look at the Octy threads to see if you can find answers to your questions.

Welcome along!

The lumpy cold tickover is a common VRS trait, it can be caused by lots of things secondary air pumps, temp sensors, dirty throttle bodies, vacuum leaks, divertor valves. Some people never seem to track it down and most don't seem to worry too much about it.

The 2 small braces are additional suspension bracing I believe found only on the vrs hatch (estate doesn't have it).

1.8T eninge is pretty well thought of and there certainly seems to be plenty of high milers about. Should be fine for big mileage if properly looked after
