Which Columbus required to retrofit OPS?

Featured Replies

I've spent days trying to find an answer to this question and have only come up with conflicting answers about whether it is possible or not...

I have been planning on swapping my Stream stereo for a Columbus one on a 2007 Octavia Estate (Å koda Octavia II Combi Ambiente 2.0 TDI 103kw model year 2007) in order to get the sat nav and other functions that this offers and also to fit a detachable towbar and OEM electrics.

At the same time, I have been offered an 8 sensor original Skoda OPS 'kit' for less than £200 and thought that I'd combine the fitting of the two to save having to remove the rear bumper twice.

The OPS kit that I have been offered has the 1Z0 919 475 C controller (for 8 sensors) along with the necessary cables, switch, buzzers, etc. to fit it. From what I have read this is the right kit for fitting to my vehicle as it is pre 2008, but I am not sure which Columbus stereo I need to get in order to have the OPS display on the screen.

Can anyone enlighten me as to which version(s) I would need to get and which HW / SW updates I'd need to get the OPS to show on the screen?

On some sites I have read that it is not possible to have the OPS display on the Columbus if retro fitting to models earlier than MY 2008!

I know that I'd need all this coding with VCDS, but that, and the towbar, can be saved for another topic.

If it makes any difference, my vehicle does not have Maxidot and I do not know which CAN Gateway I have installed as I have no way of checking it (nor do I know where it is).

Many thanks is advance of any advice.

Anybody know?

I think I have established that a CAN Gateway upgrade is needed. Would this 1K0 907 530 AD be a good one to choose so that everything will work (OPS, towbar electrics, MFSW, Columbus etc.)?

Any answers or pointers towards articles that I have not yet been able to find would be much appreciated.
