Can I remap my 2.0's stock ECU?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I love my 2.0 and all and it's pretty damn quick, but as a car enthusiast and a Fabia lover, I just can't help but wanna give my car more power.

Can I remap the existing stock ECU or do I need to get a superchip?

Please advise.

Thanks guys.

not sure about that but will get much extra from doing it? normally remaping n/a cars only gives you small gains

You can remap it but being a normal atmo engine I don't think you'd gain much...perhaps a 10% increase.

Better result will be gotten from traditional tuning methods....porting head etc but this is obvioulsy more expensive due to the labour involved.

* all my usual disclaimers apply. ;)

just looked at super chips and they mention a 2.0l octavia but not a 2.0l fabia. but the gain on the 2.0l octavia is only 8bhp

To add to what Chris has said...the "breathing" is not forced.

Hmmm....wondering now whether my comment above actually helps?

No no no...i dint know there was an abbreviation for it...i know what normal aspiration (or NATURAL aspiration like some people say) is...

Man. That sucks. I was looking forward to super positive 'hell yeah you can get 20bhp just professionally having it remapped' reply...well. If you guys say ill be getting only about 8bhp by having it remapped...plus ill get a K&N air filter...that'll total it to 10bhp. That ain't so bad for a start I guess :)

But

The other option to make the car faster is to put it on a diet and remove as much unnecessary weight from it as possible :D

Chris

but with doining the exhaust and intake system and getting it remapper it isn't all about raising maximum figures the car can become a lot more drivable and although the max bhp is only 8 higher the rest of the power curve might be significantly improved making a much smoother generally better car.

Am well aware of this factor, but it's not, so it's not worth bothering. :)

Rob.

just wondering, never remapped a car myself, closest i have come is fitting a bleed vlave to the nova and upping the fueling, bit crude but same effect and what a difference it makes. can't wait to visit jabba though
