Which revision of RNS510 is 'best'?

Featured Replies

I have been looking on here and other forums for what, I hope, is a simple answer.

I am looking for a Skoda version of RNS 510 unit for my Octavia but cannot find any information on the part revision suffix. What is the actual difference between the A, B, C and D parts (3TO 035 680). Are there newer 'better' versions?

Also, what do the first three characters tell about the unit? Does 1Z0 = Skoda, 3C0 = VW, etc.?

Want to make sure I buy the right version for my pre-FL '07 Octavia, so any advice or guidance on this will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I think that you will be stuck with the a & B revision units, the later units cause battery drain, if you search on here you'll find lots of info, also a lot on VWNAVI.com as well

Thanks, I had heard about that and, as mine is a pre-MY08 / FL vehicle, I thought that the only way of fitting a newer RNS-510 was to upgrade the CAN Gateway to a newer (L or later revision) to prevent the battery drain and other issues.

I've been looking at a 3TO 035 680A unit, would this be a good choice for my vehicle?

Are 'A' and 'B' units newer versions than 'C' or 'D'?

What is the differences between the units?

I have tried searching and come up with a few very useful articles but none (that I can find) that actually address the differences between the revisions.

Thank you for you comments and information.
