What's my SKC?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Is there anyone in Kent / SouthEast willing to read the 4-digit SKC from my Mk1 Octavia? Seems dealers won't do it now, and I don't have the plastic fob the car came with.

Thanks,

T

You can't read the SKC with VCDS, in fact nor can we at the dealer.

You can get some of them with VAG Tacho I believe. Shark Performance would be a good place to ask possibly, they now a little more than I do I must admit about Tacho.

Yes, I've got the Hex+CAN cable, which doesn't do me much good... I also bought a Chinese cheapo cable to reprogram the comfort system for remote window wind up / down because Ross-Tech don't do serial emulation for their expensive cable any more so if anyone can "lend" me the appropriate software that might work too.

The software for the clocks for the skc and the software for doing the windows with the remote are completely different.

For the clocks you need vag tacho and an appropriate vag tacho cable (vag com cables don't work with this software)

For the remote windows you need vds pro and a true serial cable (no usb cables as it's dos based).

Hope that helps

Hello Phil,

I actually used a Windows-based piece of software on a windows virtual machine on a Mac over USB to do the windows, so that's not quite true.

Anyway, this is miles of topic :) I know I need something like vag tacho, and I wonder whether anyone around Kent, where I live, is able to help me?

Ah yes. Thought you had a fabia but just saw that you mentioned octavia in your thread!

Problem solved. If anyone local has a similar problem in the future, drop me a PM.
