Problem with rear lights

Featured Replies

I have a Fabia 2.0. I replaced a brake light bulb a few days ago. Now my offside side light is burning on both filaments and the nearside is barely burning on one filament. I swapped bulbs and it is still the offside that burns bright. The fogs are switched off. Any ideas?

Brake light bulb, i.e the bottom bulb in the cluster

You have got a double filament offset pin bulb in there havent you. (two terminals on the bottom)

Yes. All bulbs are correct and identical either side, but it seems to be sort of OK now. I took them out and put them back again (an IT trick). Now both seem to be equally bright. But the rear fog switch makes no difference, so something still isn't quite right. No warning lights on the console, though.

No difference in the fog light?

You should only have a 21w bulb in the top bulb holder on the o/s which should come on when the ignition is on and the main headlamp switch rotated and pulled out twice.

I put one in the near side as well soon after I bought the car, three years ago :)

And wired it across from the offside?

As far as I recall, no. I think it worked OK. But I may be wrong because I did the same thing with my previous car (Golf GTI 2) and it worked.
