felicia cuts out mid flight

Featured Replies

On a cold but dry evening, after a 5 minute drive, my felicia (1.3 petrol, 1995, Bosch coil), cuts out. AA man spends half hour checking the usual stuff. Reckons it is the rotor arm or coil as there is spark at coil, but not plugs. Have it towed home.

Try it a few days later, having done nothing to it. No problem. It runs just fine!

(Over 6 months ago I had replaced the coil with a second hand coil as the original split and broke).

I'm quite new to Skoda and am quite pleased with it, but ... Are coils generally crap on these models? Surely I would be able to see some defect on the rotor arm? Do they tend to get an airlock in fuel system?

Any ideas anyone, please?

Cap and rotor arms are common.

TBH I quite often change over the ignition system parts just to keep things in good order. Just fitted new cap rotor arm and leads to my 1.6 MPi.

1.3 MPi does suffer less problems with the latter coil pack type ignition.
