Many thanks for your reply vwDan1986; I am a bit sceptic with them as they have got things wrong for me in the past and I have lost my confidence, but thanks for your suggestion.

Hi,

Last week we intergrated our own custom made parts catalogue onto the website.

It had been used by our parts staff for the past 6 months which has ironed out most bugs, and improved the accuracy, and we now decided it was the time to put it live for the public.

The main thing this does is it drills down the parts using your VIN number, meaning less choices for the customer. It has also added another 40,000 products to the website!

So feel free to give it a go, and any questions give me a shout!

Dealer? They have chaps paid to do that for you?

Agree with Rob. It's a bit of a vague request! What is it you're looking for?

Give your local TPS a call - much better (and cheaper) than the dealer and genuine VAG parts! Just pretend to be in the trade emoticon-0100-smile.gif

I am sure a dealer will have staff paid to do the job,but how can you deal with this problem when for eg.you need a fuel filter but you are told that unless you remove the old one, there is no way of knowing, since for my skoda there are 4 different types for the same year and model?

As for eurocarparts,I have tried their website tonight, and surprise, they are DOWN!!!

Now,if any of you can help with the correct part number for a DMF skoda octavia PD TDi 105 Classic, that will be very much appreciated.

That's exactly the problem, there isn't a way of knowing which fuel filter you need - the dealers have to deal with the weird workings of the VAG machine just like everyone else :)

I would say, order all the available ones - then you have them all to hand when you change it over. Take the ones back that weren't required and you'll know for next time.

I had to do this.... but with my clutch. So it was a damn sight more costly up-front than buying four fuel filters. There's honestly no way of telling which has been fitted at the factory; why the info about such parts isn't added to a build information system for each VIN plate I don't know, but there we go.

is yours the mk1 ? if so then theres only one fuel filter, if its a mk2 give them the number off your fuel filter housing, this will either narrow it to 3 or down to one depending which you've got fitted

Hay,

Thanks for reply; as I said in my yesterday post,YOUR WEBSITe WaS DOwN! I believe that there isn't much of a science behind typing a website name (http://www.eurocarparts.com) other then typing it correctly, and even if I do get it typed incorrectly, just by using google search will narrow the chances for someone to choose the wrong link to a minimum.

Now,coming back to my query, you have advised me that the part for my vehicle would be a Sachs model, and when I used your website and double-check it,using the part number provided by yourself,it did told that the product chosen won't fit my vehicle. I have just come off of a chat conversation with one of your advisors, who referred me to a different part, this time was a LUK model, completely different from the previous. Again,I have used your website to check that the part number was the right one and surprisingly got the same negative message. When I had challenged the chap who was advising me questioning those discrepancies,he told me that he has using a very new system which matches the part with vin number, eliminating any errors. In your reply, you have mentioned that the new system implemented was tested for 6 months prior to being made available to your customers via your website, but the results of my today query tells the opposite.

Please clarify.

Yup all prices include VAT

a good price then, ours is slightly cheaper until you add the vat, both LUK and SACHS were fitted to the vehicle, providing your changing both DMF and clutch either is fine

When i was asking how you managed to find it was 'down' I wasn't trying to be rude or funny, but there are many ways you could view a 'down' page (ie/ putting in a bad registration, finding a glitch in the product list etc....) If you simply typed the URL and found it was down, that's very strange as we haven't heard this from any other customers - hopefully it was just a isolated incident!

Currently we are experiencing a bug with certain registrations, where the website pulls the part from our catalogue, but displays a reg message stating 'this part is not suitable' We are currently working on correcting this..

Yep we all use the same software now, however the customer service team have access to ETKA etc - My finding was based on the vehicle details you supplied in your Forum ID, i'm guessing you gave the agent on the phone/chat a registration? - if so the listing I found may not be suitable, if you would like, please drop me a PM with your reg and i'll confirm.

I hope the above helps clears things up, We are only trying to help, but some of your comments above come across as hostile, in good will I have taken them as constructive feedback, which is ideal - We are constantly improving our website, and our service and can only do this with the support of forums such as yourselves, mistakes and errors do happen and are a part of life, but with your support we are getting much better!
