Rear washer knackered!

Featured Replies

I remember checking and filling the screen wash at the weekend. But when i go to use the rear on tuesday i get nothing. So, getting annoyed hold the stalk out for several seconds and the light on the dash comes on. And soon after the fronts stop working! arrgghh

Anyway after filling it back up in the rain, the rear wash is still not working. I can only think that its knackered from being frozen up but i've never come across this ever.

Anybody know where the tube runs along the car, and how easy it is to access ?

IIRC, there is a connector in the rear hatch or boot floor, basically a T piece or a joint which comes undone. You may find you have wet boot carpet :D

Do a search and I'm sure you'll find it

Does the bottle empty really quickly? If so the pipe has more than likely popped off the pump itself behind the n/s/f wheel arch liner.

Other places it pops off are just behind the airbox near thw ABS unit (if fitted)

N/S/R 1/4 in the boot, not to far from the rear seatbelt reel

And the tailgate where it fixes onto the wiper motor.

In all cases wipe off any moisture and put a small dob of superglue on the SIDE of the male fixing and it should stop it popping off again, and dont use your washers when they are frozen!

I had this once. The best way to trace it is with a friend.

Fill the washers up and sit in the car and turn them on. Get your friend to crouch behind the front wheel and spot where the water is flowing.

Fixing it is a quick job - the dealer did mine in 15 minutes.
