New vRS with a damaged front tyre

Featured Replies

Hello All

Recently I picked up My new Octavia vRS from the dealers, I have not until today been able to detail the car wheels properly, as I was going round the car I noticed that the front nearside tyre has a deep cut in the tyre sidewall and that the alloy has a slight chip. The wheel has not been kerb I am the only person to drive the car since picking it up from the dealers and the car has only covered 90 miles. Looking at the tyre I think it needs replacing because it looks dangerous to me.

Can this sort of damage been caused by the factory putting the tyres onto the rims? I will contact the dealer and see what they say about the matter.

More likley it happened when it was taken off the truck or maybe driven from one branch to another. TBH, its unlikely they will fix it for you as they'll claim it was fine when it left the forecourt. One of the things I do when collecting a new car, is go over it on my own and take my time to check everything.

Agreed, you have taken delivery, you signed the handover to say you were happy with the condition. You know you didn't do it, they would have seen it (I used to work for a dealership and was responsible for checking off new cars - nothing got passed me!) or the valeter or the technician when they did the PDI (pre-delivery inspection). They won't want to have to pay £100 or so out of the deal to fix it. Sorry mate but I think you'll have to sort that out of your pocket.....

They will also claim the PDI would of picked it up - this is true if the PDI was carried out correctly.

After putting 90 miles on the car I will be amazed if they will do anything about it, you really should of gone over the car with a fine tooth-comb when you collected it.

However if you don't ask you wont know.

Thanks for the reply guys, yeah I must agree I should have looked a little bit closer at the tyres but you learn by your mistakes. I will give them a ring but i am not holding my breath.

By the way cracking car well worth the waith I am really impressed with the look and build quality of the Octavia, the dealer in county durham was excellent to deal with too.
