door locked

Featured Replies

Hi.

My off side rear door lock has stopped working and I now cant get into the car through it. It won't open on remote or manually from inside of the car.Can anyone give me a clue why and how to resolve this? I'm guessing the motor has failed. Many thanks.

This is quite common. There are two non-destructive methods you can try. Neither of them worked for me but they are worth a try. Firstly try repeatedly locking and unlocking the car whilst pulling the handle. Sometimes they will eventually open - some people say a gentle thump on the door under the exterior handle can help to shock the deadlock off

Failing that, I have heard someone saying if you open the front rood you will see a rubber boot running from the b pillar into the rear door. If you prise that off the door and unplug the lower plug, some day it disables the deadlocks. Again this didnt work for me.

I ended up taking the interior trim off and smashing the deadlock with a hammer and chisel. The door trim is easy to take off with the door closed, which is lucky!

If you end up taking the destructive option, you only need to smash the deadlock which is the plastic part of the catch. Just take care not to damage the door skin!!

Once the deadlock is smashed you should be able to open the door via the internal handle.
