which engine?

Recommended Posts

Your car will have the PD injectors as common rail was not available on the 1.9 TDI.

I wouldn't worry too much, the 1.9 is known as a solid piece of engineering and is quite reliable. A search might be a good thing as there has been a few posts about injectors failing and being replaced under warranty, however I believe those were on 2.0 TDI vRS cars so would be a different model of injector.

It is very rare for the PD injectors to fail on a 1.9 TDi. I can't recall a single case of it being mentioned on this forum for example.

The only time injector failure occurs on a diesel Octavia it seems to be the PD170 2.0 version with piezo injectors.

I agree. My last car - Seat Leon 1.9TDi PD SE - had the 130bhp flavour of this engine and was pretty much bomb proof. I sold the car at 7 years old with 142K miles on it and never had a single engine problem. A colleague bought it from me and, apart from a faulty sensor replacement, it's still going strong without any issues. Oh, and pulls like a train as well. :)
