vRS DSG

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have a couple of queries regarding the DSG in the vRS. Thought it might start an interesting discussion: -

Firstly can anyone say why the idle increases significantly when the car is put in manual or S mode? I've noticed that whilst the gearbox is quite laggy in D and pulling away from standstill is rather delayed there are no such issues in manual or S mode.

Secondly is the car any quicker in S mode than when in manual? Does it alter shift up speed, throttle mappings or anything as such. I suspect not but found when driving the car quickly the other day that it seemed somehow more responsive when in S (though it holds gears a bit too long when power begins to tail off after 6K).

Be interested to hear what people have to say.

As far as I know S mode just keeps higher revs and holds the gear until redline. I very rarely use S and prefer D or manual.

I havnt noticed any lag whilst using D but I know a number of others have mentioned it.

the revs increase so it can "launch" faster, you get a quicker take off.. same in manual as it assumes you want to go fast...

the cars responses arn't changed in any way in "s" same throttle response power ect, as you correctly deduce you are just feeling the extra power caused by holding the gears to keep the revs up

Shark.
