Skoda Fun

Featured Replies

Hi, I've had a Fun for around 3 years with no complaints apart from 2 issues:

- At times when starting from cold it continues to run noticeably fast. Normal idle can be returned

by stopping and re-starting and this may be part way into the journey.

- Occasionally I get a momentary power void which may only last a second or so. A guy I spoke to

pointed towards the HT leads which I replaced. However the problem is still there albeit not as

severe/frequent. Perhaps both these issues are linked in some way?

Would be great to receive any thoughts or suggestions. Many thanks.

It sounds like the cold enrichment is sticking on; try blasting some cleaner through the throttle body as a first move. If that doesn't clear both issues, try a TB realignment like this: Disconnect the battery overnight, but make sure you have any necessary stereo security codes first.

Hi Rob,

Whereabouts in Kent are you?

Hi Alex,

Based on the wind swept Romney Marsh.

Cheers,

Rob.

Hi!

not a million iles from me then. I'm in medway.

I have a clean throttle body sitting on a shelf in the garage if you're interested in a swap. It came from my Fun when I changed my throttle-body for a clean one from a scrapper earlier this year.

Cheers

Alex

(Note to the trigger-happer mods: again, nothing is actually mentioned for sale in this post. Whilst swap and sale start with an 'S', they sound and read totally different :p)

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the offer but I'll hold on that for moment as the problem is pretty intermitent and not causing too much grief. Will keep in touch and give you shout if it gets worse.

Thanks again, Rob.

Hi, Thanks for coming back to me. I've tried a TB realignment by disconnecting the ECU rather than the battery approach. Fingers crossed? Cheers, Rob.
