Joining the V6 bandwagon :-)

Featured Replies

So I've just signed the paperwork for a year old V6 estate and should have it within a week :-)

Pretty much pure chance that the V6 will be replacing my year old XC90 on the drive to sit besides wifeys 60 plate Octavia VRS (Petrol). About 12 months ago we were looking to replace wifeys diesel focus and my Disco 3, the VRS was a no brainer due to the no VAT offer at the time, however during that time I noticed this V6 version of the Superb and liking the Skoda brand (had the mark 1 Octy VRS for 3 years) started to think about it.

7 seats weren't a big deal for us, shoulder room in the rear and luggage space was the big driver and I also wanted 4 wheel drive, a Disco 4 was top of the list but I didn't have a spare £50k, to cut a long story short the residuals on the V6 Superb weren't good from a PCP perspective and Volvo were dropping 17% off the XC90 no arguement so that's where my money went. By chance I was doing the Auto Trader thing that I randomly do from time to time last week and up popped this V6 Superb.

On closer inspection it has the important toys of the XC90, 4x4 (albeit not quite the same ground clearance), more load space (shocking I know) and huge amounts of legroom in the back (ok it's a tiny bit down on shoulder space). Plus it's got the V6 and from the reports the fuel consumption isn't much worse than the D5 XC90 which has averaged 26.5 MPG for the 12K I have owned it - it's not a nice engine and the auto gearbox is terrible btw!

The Superb happened to be at a dealer several hundred miles away so I dropped Matt @ Simpsons in Colne an email on spec as we bought the VRS from him, I just wanted to know if he could get it from the dealer that had it, no problem and so we've looked at figures etc and I can have it on PCP and save myself £150 a month into the bargain! It's an ex Skoda management car bit I still find it amazing you can pick one of these things up, around 12 months old with less than 9k on the clock for under £20,000, that's unreal! Anyway I borrowed their 170 Elegance disel demo to get a feel for the build quality and spec for 24 hours and loved it so can't wait to have the 4x4 and extra V6 power.

The car is a Cappuccino estate, black leather and aliminium style trim with dimming rear view mirror, hill hold assist, park assist (the demo had that and it's just weird!), heated rear seats and premium audio. I'll be adding tints locally and some form of DVD rear seat system just to keep the spec up to what the XC90 has, very much looking forward to getting hold of it :-)

Also just as a final word, very impressed with Matt at Simpsons in Colne, if your in the NW looking for a Skoda you could do a lot worse!
