Superb Emissions

Featured Replies

After speaking with colleague yesterday, it appears that I've been lucky with my Superb order. He is on the same grade as me and therefore has the same restrictions within our company car policy - £380 per month eqv lease and maximum of 145g/km emissions.

At the time that I ordered mine, he hadn't had his position confirmed so has had to wait. I placed my order (Superb Estate 2.0 SE) in May - he's now had everything confirmed but our car policy list has changed drastically. Originally he wanted the same as me but it wasn't showing. I suggested he contact the lease company and get them to check against my order.

Now appears that the 2.0 CR Skoda engine has been dropped from the policy due to emissions, although it still sits (just) under the maximum. The only available Superb is the Greenline, which he doesn't want! He can have the 2.0 engine but only in Octavia guise.

My question is will VAG release the BMT diesel engines to Skoda? - their 2.0 140PS engine in the new Passat is only 120g/km with the 170PS only 123g/km. Skoda's equivalent engines are 145g/km and 151g/km respectively. But VW still offer the ultra low emissions engines @ 114g/km.

Are VAG doing this on purpose to restrict the Superb sales as the 2.0 140PS in the Octavia is 129g/km? Surely the extra 230kgs that the Superb adds over the Octavia (Estate variant) won't make that much difference. Or are they hoping it will push up their Greenline sales?
