Cheap Steel Wheels

Featured Replies

I am looking for some cheap steel wheels to put winter tyres on and have found some steel wheels off a VW Transporter t5. I have heard from mixed source it will fit but other sources have said the wheel bolt diameter is 120 rather then the 112 i need. Searching on brisokda said it wouldnt, but a couple of posts on pistonheads head said it might?

I cam struggling to find any more details on it. I dont suppose anyone could shed any light on this could they?

Alternatively, does anyone know if wheels off a VW passat (2004) would be suitable for an octy2?

Cheers guys :)

I would have thought you can just got a breakers and get a set of steels from an Octavia. But I don't know??

IIRC a T4 has 5x112 but a T5 is 5x120 so they won't fit.

A passat would have 5x112 pcd but you'd also need to check the offset. Somewhere 45-50mm is what you need, so Golf etc is ideal.

From what I've seen in the last year or so second hand steels are much harder to find now that lots of folks want them for winters. If you look on ebay you may find it cheaper to get some second hand 16" alloys.

Yeah, i am trying to keep as many options open as possible! With the offset, can it can extended? These are steel wheels I am considering (passat ones), so i imagine they would need spacers more then anything?

New steels are around the £50 mark (47inc vat to me)

Just to give you an idea of price

Its the adding of tyres thats gona make my ring sting lol

That's right. T5s use a 5x120, 55 offset. T4s use a 5x112.

For a 6,5J 16" I personally wouldn't go much below a 45 offset. I'd want the wheel to be tucked fairly well into the arch for winters...

Best angle is to search out a set from a base model Jetta/Golf Mk5&6/Leon Mk2/A3 8P etc, as the owner might have upgraded to alloys and wants rid. Ideal; then just take the hubcaps off B)

Thanks for the replies guys, I am fairly sure they do fit but just to confirm, does anyone know if wheels off a 2004 Passat would fit? :)

Providing they are 16" they will be fine.
