All ready for winter - FL Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

Last Saturday, I gave the VRS a good going over in readiness for the forthcoming winter.

The car is only a couple of months old so didnt need too much doing on it.

Just the usual, snowfoam, 2BM wash, a quick run over with clay although it didnt show much contamination, then a quick hand polish with DoDo Lime Prime, then a nice coat of DoDo Supernatural Hybrid wax, wheels were cleaned using Autobrite Brite Gel, then waxed with the Supernatural, arches jet washed etc, windows all cleaned and then Gtechniq G1 and G3 reppellant applied, tyres dressed with TW platinum tyre dressing, personally not a huge fan of glossy tyre dressings, but this one although glossy suits the white of the car very well and seems to last for quite a while.

Inside was hoovered, all surfaces wiped over and then dressed using PERL on a 1-10 mix gives a nice matt finish, alcantara cleaned and that and the cloth trim was protected using Gtech I1, then the leather bits and bobs cleaned and protected using Gtech leather guard, then the OEM rubber mats put in for the winter.

That was it, will wash it again in the next week or so and get another coat of the SN hybrid wax/sealent on and then that will be it for the winter, just regular washing and probably a wax top up once or twice maybe.

Was really pleased with teh finish on the car so decided to get a few shots that I thought worth sharing, iphone pics so not brilliant!

No didnt worry about the old wax to be honest, it had the same wax shortly after it was new, and anyway, the Lime Prime will of stripped off most of the old wax I presume?

Not long just the best part of the day, but very rewarding!

Hey looks stunning!! How easy is the G1 to apply, I've just got some (came with G2 too)..

Easy, just use the cotton pads they supply you, pop it on then let it smear, about 15 mons then buff off with the remover, bit on the windscreen repeat it 3 times, job done, then give it a nice buff with some water spray and a clean glass cloth and it comes up a treat, havent had no rain yet to see how this coating has taken on the Octavia but on the Beetle its holding up nearly 12 months on very well indeed, recommended.

Great job

All you need now are some Winter Tyres!!
