Fans coming on with cold engine on first start up of the day

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have only owned my PD170 for a few weeks ( It spent 2 weeks with the garage I got it from as it needed a new DPF straight away).

Since getting it back and finally driving it I have noticed the fans come on first thing in the mornings. We drive 5 mins to the child minders with them on, then after turning the engine off and back on again 10 mins later they don't come back on. The aircon / heaters are not being used.

I have searched the forum but could only see issues with fans running after the engine was off.

Anyone with any ideas? Swear this didn't happen the first week we had the car before the garage fitted a new DPF.

Its going into a garage in 2 weeks to have a knocking noise looked at so I will get it checked then anyway, just thought it was worth an ask.

Thanks

Is it staying at normal engine temp?

Its started up from cold - so still slowly warming up.

I have heard that a faulty low pressure sensor could bring the fan on.

Is the pressure in the AC ok? If it's ok then check the ac pressure sensor.

There is also the possibility that the fan control module could be faulty?

Could be dpf sensor. My fans only come on if dpf is doing a passive regen (which has only happened twice)

I am sure there was a new sensor fitted in the dpf brogue the dpf was replaced. Does make sense though as its only happened since new dpf.

Did you find the resolution for this issue KENICH?
