17" wheels offset question

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I saw these amazing pair of OZ superturismo wheels at a tyre dealer, want to put the wheels in my FL Octavia,

the specs are 112x5, width 7.5, offset 35. Will these wheels fit the FL Octavia properly or will i have some rubbing issues?

Thanks..

did try the link, its abit confusing as they sell few 17x7.5 with 35-37 offset, so i guess i m alright with 17x7.5 with 35 offset??

Thanks..

Offset of 35 seems a bit low, I would have thought between 40 and 50 would be preferable for the Octavia. I believe most of the factory wheels are on an offset of 50, therefore assuming your originals are 7.5 width then the offset of 35 could meen they sit 15mm further out of the wheel arch, if your originals are narrower then this could be even more pronounced.

Thanks for the info, so i guess i should be looking for wheels with an offset of 45-50 then :S

Very misleading link IMO. Implication is that a 35mm - 45mm offset is the correct range. Seems strange then that the OE wheel is et 51 for a vRS?

A good fit can only be determined by a calculation of et and rim width combined.

so a 17x7.5 et35 will cause any rubbing? will it stand to much out?

the 17" zeniths are 7.5 width & et51 correct?

Thanks..

You could have potential rubbing issues, yes. Biggest issue is under load at the back, and full lock on the fronts.

Are you running on standard suspension?

At that offset and width I wouldn't go below ET40.

If they're at the dealer you could test fit them? A possibility?

yes running on standard suspension, over here in india we have the rough road package so our cars are much higher then the ones in the UK, i think around 20mm higher,

by putting 205/50/17 tires will it make the touching chances more less? or i got the calculations wrong?

Thanks..

if you know the width, offset and tyre size of your exisitng wheels and the ones you want to buy then you can compare them on www.willtheyfit.com
