Homebrew Boost Leak Tester

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just after a little help if that's possible. Been reading up on different ways to make a boost leak tester and I want to make something like this - http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=269836

I've bought all the necessary parts, apart from the actual PVC piping, i.e the correct sized pipe and cap. I can't seem to find the right diameter pipe. For example I've measured the inside diameter of my forge TIP and it comes too 73mm. All the plumbing websites seem to measure there plumbing is inches and the pipe sizes go up in increments of half an inch. So the nearest pipe that I can find is either 2 1/2 inch (64mm) or 3 inch (77mm)..

Is anybody clued up on their plumbing? If so, does the trade measure piping by the inside or outside diameter? Also can anybody recommend a plumbing place that I could go to, to see if they could get some odd off cuts of pipe to try get something to work?

Sorry for the 101 questions, but as everyone will agree we love BOOST :)

Kinds Regards

Marc

Plastic plumbing generally only comes in a few standard sizes mate. You dont really get to ask for what size you want as it's a standard size think across the board.

What you may get is some sort of rubber bung like in that video that you can adapt to get you to your size of plastic pipe.

Best bet is city plumbing or plumb centre if you go on their websites you can search branch locators. Both sell to public and don't be afraid of going in a trade orientated place

Cheers for the advice Dave :)

You were right, no one did the size that I needed, but I found the plumbing for outdoor pools use a completely different sizing so I able to seek the right pipe that way :)

Thanks again,

Marc
