1.8 TSI SE Estate - 6K Miles On

Featured Replies

So, I've had this car for about 3 months and have covered about 6K miles. I choose the petrol model as at the time the 20% offer was available, so the difference in ownership costs compared with a diesel are negligible.

Right, let’s get the negative bits out of the way.....

1. The driver's seat belt buckle rattles occasionally

2. The glovebox rattles occasionally.

3. Errr.... no, that's it

The positive bits have been posted numerous times on this forum by lots of people, although being a petrol model it may of interest that I find the engine fantastic - very smooth, with a split personality. You can either drive it damn quick, or keep the revs at about 1500 when cruising for a very relaxed, economical journey. The gear change indicator helps with the economy, which has been better than expected - about 40 MPG actual. Town driving sees about 30 MPG but a long steady run, keeping to about 60 MPH has seen 53 MPG on Maxidot. First service is due at about 19K miles, according to Maxidot.

The car feels well engineered, more so than the Octavia it replaced. The build quality is definitely better, the whole car feels more solid and has a much smoother, quieter ride. As with the Octavia, it is often the small details that stand out - the ambient cockpit and adjustable footwell lighting, the cubbyholes and storage areas both in the cabin and the boot, the silver trim which lifts the dark interior.... the list goes on.

Over all, yet another satisfied owner!
