Coming Home doesn't work

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've a one month old Superb and I'm trying to learn how the leaving home function works. When I enter my building's parking, lights automatically turn on, so the car thinks it's dark enough to turn them on and my auto switch is correctly set. But when I close the car, it turns off the lights instantly. I've checked the maxidot configuration and "leaving home" function is activated and set to 30 sec. Coming home has the same configuration as well and when I open the car, in this same light conditions, it turns on the lights. I've read several times the manual looking to make this function work whithout success.

Battery should be ok since the car is just one month old.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you in advance.

Are you headlights switch on "Auto" position?

Yes, the headlights position is always on "Auto" position.

Try by giving it a flash before you take keys out.

This function doesn't work if the car detects the battery isn't fully charged

Battery should be fully charged since the car is new.

I know there are some cars that works in the "flash" way but it doesn't specify anything like that in the manual so I was expecting it could do it automatically like the Mercedes do it.

Thanks, any more ideas?

Did you try the flash technique?

I'll try it, but I expected it to work automatically :-(

I have this function on my Octavia, the leaving home function will work if you open the car using the remote control and it is dark enough for the lights to come on. The coming home function will only work if you have the lights switched to on, if you have them on auto then they will turn off with the engine and the coming home function will not work.

Thanks, I'll try it tomorrow. Somebody with a superb 2 can confirm that it doesn't work with the auto position depending on the darkness level?

My lights are on Auto and both coming and leaving work (as they should).

Hi there,

I also have both the Coming Home and Leaving Home in my Superb II and they work flawlessly when leaving the switch in Auto.

I do not use them normally but I tried it for first time yesterday during the night and they worked fine, as expected.

You might try visiting the dealer ...

By the way, I live in Madrid too ;-)

Cheers

I confirm that it's working fine with the switch in Auto. I use it everyday to get into the parking.

I live in Barcelona. :dull:

Hola!

Does it always works or it depends on light conditions? I don't understand why it always turns on when opening the car but never when closing it, in the same exact place. I'll try it tonight out in the dark without the parking's lights and if it doesn't work I will take it to the dealer.

Cheers and gracias!!

So, I put my jacket over the light sensor and "coming home" worked perfectly! What I don't get it's why leaving home turns on every time with the same light exposure...

Thank you for all your help!!

I have tried mine. I found the following at the moment. I have lights set to auto.

When arriving home engine is stopped & lights go off.

When I open car door headlights come on

Car door is shut &locked, then the lights stay on for a short while & then go off.

Leaving home - when I press the fob to open the doors, the headlamps come on

I Have noticed that every door opening (arriving at the car) brings the lamps on

However the coming home only seems to work when turning ignition off, opening door & locking up.

Maybe the lovic is that it knows if you have driven & are leaving the car rather thn just opening & shutting

Hope that helps
