Oil warning light keeps beeping randomly

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP, 55 reg. The car was working and running fine until a few days later the oil warning light appeared on the clock dash.

At first I thought it would be low oil level, upon getting this checked, it was fine and topped up. However the oil warning light still kept coming on. I took it to a local electrician mechanic, who advised it could be the oil switch. I got this changed and still no luck! The light still comes on!

I then was told it could be the oil pump in the engine, I then got this replaced, unfortunately this did not resolve the issue! The oil warning light still came on!

Next, I was told that the clocks on the Fabias have common faults with the oil light. Having changed the Oil switch, Oil pump, I then bought a new clock dash from a spare yard. The auto electrician configured this with my cars data and replaced mine. But still no luck! The oil light is still coming on.

I really like this car and It drives superb. But its sad and upsetting me knowing that this fault still exists and cannot be found.

So just to sum it all up, I have replaced the oil pump, switch and clocks, each time the oil has been emptied and refilled with new oil. But the oil warning light still comes on! After all of this, I am seeking your help! If someone has come across this or a similar problem, Your help would be great! Anyone have any idea what could be causing this? What the solution is?

I really really really hope some can help me!

Many thanks

I would have thought long before all of the above was changed has the oil pressure actually been checked and verified?

If you remove the single terminal from the switch, put it to earth does the light go out?

I will ask my mechanic tomorrow if this has been checked? The light doesn't stay on all time. Its temperamental. Sorry, i should have mentioned when i switch the engine off and turn it back on, the light goes off then after randomly comes on.

Thanks

The oil light should go off anyhow even if the engine isn't started, if it's coming back on again then I'd be checking the engine earth etc.

Thanks Tech1e....

I myself am no mechanic nor electrician, but I will let the garage know who is dealing with this know. Do you know if this is a common fault on the Fabias? I've read this problem on a few forums and no one seems to have found any solution.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Does anyone know how many oil sensors/switches a Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP 12V has?

Also is there one near the front near the radiheater?

Thanks

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.....Greetings everyone,i bought a Skoda Fabia 14 16v ...i am having an issue, the oil light came on when i was driving,i heard a beeping sound & the car cut out. I tried to start it back but the engine did not start..i waited for a few minutes then it started & the flashing brake light came on the dash board....i changed the oil,the level is fine but the oil light is still on,now the ABS  light is on. The mechanic took out the oil unit & tested the oil pressure & that is fine. When the car is idling no lights on the dashboard are on..its only when i drive, that the lights come on. I test drive the car again the lights came on & the beeping sound, but it did not cut out this time(oil & brakelights on dasboard are still on).

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
