Question on brake pads

Featured Replies

I've just got some new discs n pads for the octy to put on but i'm abit worried on how the old pads have worn, it looks like the driver's side pads have worn a bit more than the passengers side. Might i have a seized caliper? Never had any pulling to the right or anything.

Also where do i get one of the screws that hold the disc in one place? Dealers? i've got one missing although the thread looks ok, does my head in when i'm trying to put a wheel on!

Was doing mine today too. Left hand side looks approx half worn, with the wear sensor just beginning to wear away (as my discs are shot and proud at the centre) yet the drivers side had about 2-3mm left. Yikes!

You can get the screws from here My link

Or, the part number is N10648301 from the dealer.

Did the wheel spin easily compared to the other one?

What discs did you get? I know the Brembo ones come with a new screw.

Pagid discs n pads from euro car parts, was really surprised as they came the next day and i ordered them at 4 without paying the extra delivery charge for next day!

I've got those ones too. Working really well I'm pleased to say.

That part number will be for more than just the Skoda`s

So try a local VW , Seat or Audi dealer , as they will be all the same

Thanks Sarah, weirdest thing about York is that ALL the vag group dealers are just about next to each other makes shopping for parts a lot easier lol

Pagid stuff is really good.

A sticky caliper is normally characterised by the "dead" pad opposite the piston wearing more than the "live" one.

Corrosion on the swept areas can cause one pad to wear more than the other with working calipers though.

Just love it when you talk like that Ken ;)
