Double Din Woes - Fabia VRS MK1

Featured Replies

I'm having a nightmare trying to get my double DIN alpine stereo to stay in the dash.

I can get the cage all the way back so it sits flush but I can't see any way to lock the cage in, so when I put the radio in, it will sit flush for a while, and when I start driving after a few days it will slowly slide out again...

Has anyone got any tips to stop that happening?

Thanks in advance.

Surely the cage has those little tabs that you have to fold in to lock it in place?

That's what I thought but none seem to fold, they all seem to blocked and no gaps to fold them into...

I had this problem, there is circular plastic bracket, you know that screw that was in the back of your standard head unit which had the rubber end on? It held that in place...

You need to chop all of that plastic out, it will then sit nicely in place :) my clips wouldn't clip in until I did this...

Ahhh!! Thank you.... I know what you are talking about. How did you cut it out? Dremel? At what points did you cut - Did you cut the whole length of it out?

Legend, you mean all of the plastic at the back where all the cables come through?

Yeah thats the one lads... I just went mental and chopped it all out with a hacksaw blade, looked neater than expected tbh.

I was thinking about doing it that way... Just worried about cutting any cables in the process!
