2010 1.9Tdi S Retro Fit Cruise

Featured Replies

If I were to buy a 2010 1.9tdi S would it be possible to retro fit cruise control?

Is there a kit available from dealer for a diy fit?

Will it be a replacment stalk with CC controls?

I have searched but cant find much on superb 2 retro cruise.

Thanks for any help - I'm planning on trying to bag CC as part of the deal on a used approved from dealer.

Can't see no reason why not, it will need a replacement stalk and possibly a upgraded steering wheel controller (some can not be coded to accept CC) then a bit of coding to get them to 'talk to each other'.

The new ones use a combined stalk and the controller is built into the contact ring, it's possible given you can get the right combination.

Any idea on price? I was going to try and bargain into the deal.

So its sounds like it will be a new stalk and some software updates or similar?

Aren't there some extra mechanical parts required, it can't be just electronics with throttle control, can it?

Not normally no, it really can be that simple on DBW (drive by wire) cars.

A stalk would be around £65 I would imagine going on other VAG CC stalks, not sure about the steering wheel controller - but you may not need that, impossible to say for certain though without knowing the part number of what is fitted.

I would imagine a dealer would charge around £200 to supply and swap the stalks over and to code the car?

The combined wiper and indicator stalks are more expensive that the older separate ones. The bugger is ETKA no longer lists all the possibilities for the switches, so need to find a car with cruise and look up the numbers for both cars and see what changes.

I am in this situation with my October 2010 build date (FL) Octavia 1.8TSI. The cruise stalk supplied by TPS based on my car's reg no would not fit and I am currently waiting for Ben at Shark to identify the correct part or parts required as above. He hadn't experienced similar problems fitting cruise to a FL Octavia vRS.

No, it's a change on mid 2010 on I think, I believe it's following suit from the VW range that also now have the new set up.

£200 is about right I would have thought - I had CC retro fitted to my 2007 Octavia (work was done in 2007) and that cost £190 from a main dealer.

Thanks for the info, Gizmo - much appreciated! :)

This states that the older stalks are fitted to pre May 2010 cars have the older single stalk
